One day in 1959..
This is the commission given to Tom and Anne Jewett one Spring day in 1959 when they knelt on their kitchen floor and dedicated their lives to God’s Service 100%: to go wherever he sent; to do whatever he asked!
Overnight their lives were turned upside down and inside out, with a change of profession, which was then followed by Theological College, Ordination and Parish Ministry - always keeping the Isaiah 61 Commission at the forefront of their minds, as they combined parish ministry with weekly Healing and Praise Services, preaching at Mission outreaches and Conferences.
Finally, they received a “call” to work fulltime in Drug Rehabilitation at notorious Kings Cross Sydney, which also opened the opportunity to preach numerous times at Sydney’s St Andrews Cathedral‘s Wednesday evening Healing Service. Life was very busy and challenging, especially gaining experience in setting the captives free.
Soon a “call” came to go to London to do a similar work of Teaching, Preaching and Counselling which not only involved heading up The London Healing Mission but travelling the length and breadth of the U.K. and into Europe, but just when they had settled into English life (four years) there was a need to return to Tasmania for family reasons.
In the Lord’s providence this brought about the establishment The ‘Isaiah 61 Ministries Trust’ in various forms as it evolved through Government Law changes etc.
